Obituary for Shirley Nugent
Shirley Ann Nugent, 73,
of Houston, Texas passed away to be with our Lord while surrounded by family on
Sunday morning, the 18th of October 2015.
Shirley was born on the 2nd of August 1942, in Bastrop, TX to Albert Venson
Faulkner and Anna Eulalia Ingram.
As a young adult, Shirley was a seamstress for many well-to-do families of
Houston’s elite River Oaks community. She later obtained a career serving
Harris County as a county clerk up until she retired.
Shirley was known to be a very strong, independent woman with a matching
personality. She enjoyed working, singing, dancing, shopping, going out to
restaurants and movies, debating, sewing, Blue Bell vanilla ice cream, Coke a
cola, travel, cooking, holidays, getting her hair and nails done, Wheel of
Fortune and The Walking Dead TV shows, animals … and sports! She was a loyal
fan of the Houston
Astros and the Houston Texans NFL. She had a deep appreciation for justice,
honesty and military, for senior citizens and children, for respect and hard
work. She was a proud grandma and she loved her
“grand babies;” Jonathan, Lyly, Jayda & Christian … she was their “G-ma!”
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Anna Faulkner; her
sister Judy Lynn Morrow; and her husband of 14 years, John Patrick Nugent. She
is survived by her daughter Dawn Marie Nugent
Martinez and son-in-law Ramon Martinez Jr.; her four grandchildren Jonathan
Luis Torres, Alyssa
(Lyly) Christiana Nugent Martinez, Jayda Alexis Nugent Martinez, and Christian
Alexander Nugent
Martinez; her sisters Billie Jo Hankins and husband Larry, Nellie Faye Vincent,
Patricia Inez Moran and husband Kenneth; as well as aunts and uncles, cousins,
nephews, nieces and friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 10:00 a.m.
until noon on Thursday, October 29th, at Al dine Funeral Chapel, 9504 Airline,
Houston, Texas 77037 ; located just off of I-45 between the 610 loop and
Beltway 8 north. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Houston
National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038 that same
day in the chapel.
She will be laid to rest with her husband, Private First Class United States
Marine John Patrick Nugent.
Mrs. Shirley Ann Nugent will be remembered and missed … she was unique, one of
a kind, and irreplaceable. Go easy on ‘em G-ma. .. and R.I.P., you earned it.
“Love ya!”
